Aussie 'Big Dog' faces DC for biting
Griquas' Australian import, lock Rory Arnold, will face a disciplinary hearing after he allegedly bit an opponent at the weekend.
Arnold, who has the unfortunate nickname of 'Big Dog', will appear before a South African Rugby Union hearing in Cape Town on Tuesday, September 3.
The player, who hails from the Gold Coast Breakers club that competes in the Queensland Premier competition, received a red card in the 63rd minute of Griquas' 20-40 loss to the Free State Cheetahs at the weekend.
He has been charged with allegedly biting an opposition player, therefor transgressing law 10.4 (m).
Peter Ingwersen has been appointed as the judicial officer.
Arnold, who scored his team's second try, stands accused of making a snack out of Cheetahs replacement Ethienne Reynecke.
The latter complained to referee Craig Joubert, who in turn referred the matter to TMO Gerrie Coetzee. Coetzee confirmed the biting incident and Arnold was sent from the field.
