Griquas hooker Ryno Barnes will appear before a SARU disciplinary committee on Thursday.

Referree Pro Legoete gave Barnes his marching orders in the 72nd minute of a Currie Cup match against the Blue Bulls for verbally abusing an official.

The offence is in breach of Law 10.4 (m) and (s).

Law 10.4 (m) states that a player must not do anything that is against the spirit of good sportsmanship in the playing enclosure, while Law 10.4 (s) states that all players must respect the authority of the referee and must not dispute the referee’s decisions.

Advocate Pieter Fischer has been appointed the Judicial Officer for the hearing, which will take place in Kimberley.
