Basson back to face WP

The Blue Bulls received a timely boost ahead of their big north-south derby, a Currie Cup Round Four encounter with Western Province.

Springbok Bjorn Basson has been declared fit and available for the Bulls and will be considered for selection for the match against WP at Loftus Versfeld on Saturday.

Basson, who holds the record for most tries in a Currie Cup season, has missed the start of the competition due to an ankle injury.

Bulls team doctor Org Strauss confirmed the continued unavailability of flyhalf Jacques-Louis Potgieter (ribs) for this weekend, but indicated good progress and the player might return in the next two weeks.

A number of players missed training on Monday, but will be back on the field Tuesday.

They include Jurgen Visser (toe), Ulrich Beyers (concussion), Burger Odendaal (quad), Akona Ndungane (knee), Deon Stegmann (groin) and Paul Willemse (hamstring).

However, they will all be available to face WP.
