Combrink's season comes to an end
Combrinck, who starred for the Lions on the wing in their 73-31 demolition of the Free State Cheetahs in a Currie Cup match at the weekend, suffered a serious knee injury.
Combrink will undergo knee surgery on Wednesday and has been ruled out for the rest of the year.
Meanwhile the .Lions will sigh a huge sigh of relief, after Jaco Kriel was cleared fit to play in their Currie Cup match against Western Province on Friday.
The loose forward put in a sterling performance against the Cheetahs last week, and he will be needed to keep an in-form province team at bay.
The Lions will be weary of Province after they seem to have hit a purple patch with some impressive victories, and the fact that a number of their stars are once again fit to play.
Flyer Howard Mnisi has been put off for two days with an injury to his eye, but he will be available to play.
Jacques van Rooyen and Rohan van Rensburg will also both be given two days off for a head laceration, and a eye injury respectively.
Jaco van der Walt is available for selection after recovering from a knee injury.
