Hanekom out with fractured leg

The Golden Lions suffered a major set back in their push for the Currie Cup trophy with Nicolaas Hanekom out for the remainder of the season with a fractured right fibula.

The centre has been an important player for the Lions throughout the season, adding plenty of skill and pace in the midfield.

His skills are undoubted with coach Johan Ackermann even experimenting with him at flyhalf in a time when the Lions were thin in that position.

Andries Coetzee who injured himself during last week’s captain’s run and will be unavailable for two weeks after tearing his abductor muscle (groin).

The fullback was withdrawn late from the matchday squad; this led to Springbok flyhalf Marnitz Boshoff slotting into fullback from the pivot role and young Jaco van der Walt coming into the No.10 jersey.
