Improved Kings go Lions hunting

The Eastern Province Kings will be looking to avenge the demolishing defeat they suffered at the hands of the Lions recently when the two sides meet in a Currie Cup rematch in Port Elizabeth this coming Saturday.

Despite going down to the Blue Bulls in Pretoria at the weekend, Kings coach Carlos Spencer said his team took a lot of heart out of their performance.

Although they needed to eliminate the mistakes that still creep into their game, he is convinced they can overcome the much-vaunted Lions.

Although the Kings lost the match, they had the Bulls in a vice grip at one stage in the encounter at Loftus Versfeld.

Spencer commended his troops for showing greater intent than in their preceding two matches – which included a crushing 19-60 loss to the Golden Lions the previous weekend.

"We can take a lot of positives out of this match, especially the first half,"Spencer said in his post-match media briefing.

"The guys showed a lot of enthusiasm and we put them under a lot of pressure at certain times," Spencer added.

"Unfortunately we didn't capitalise and we didn't execute properly in the second half.

"We can take a lot of positives because there were a lot of guys out there today that put up their hands up and can be really proud of themselves."
