Kings hit by Injuries
The Kings have lost their first three games, and their long injury list is not helping them get that elusive first win.
Influencial No.8 Jacques Engelbrecht has a left hip pointer injury he suffered in the 13-15 loss to the Pumas last Friday. He is likely to be sidelined for the next two weeks.
He was injured in the wake of Captain Luke Watson pulling out of the team the day before the Pumas match.
The Kings can hardly afford losing such big names if they want to stop their losing streak.
Like Watson, Stephan Willemse also suffered a dead leg, both will be assessed on Thursday to determined their availability for the weekend's match against the Sharks this coming Saturday.
Centre Tim Whitehead suffered concussion in the game against the Pumas and his availability for this weekend’s match is in doubt.
He was cleared of symptoms, but will follow a gradual return to play protocol until Thursday. If he comes through that, then he will be cleared to face his former team.
Flyhalf George Whitehead picked up a knee injury and will see a specialist on Monday to determine the severity of the injury.
Prop Basil Short has recovered from a foot injury, but a spider bite has kept him sidelined this week.
There are some players out on longer-term injuries, these include: David Bulbring (4 Months), Aidon Davis (9 months), Charles Marais (4 weeks), Gary van Aswegen (1 week), Shane Gates (3 weeks), Elgar Watts (2 weeks).
