Lambie to link up with Boks?
Lambie made his first appearance on a rugby field in over three months when he came off the bench during the second half of the Sharks' 53-0 win over the Eastern Province Kings at Kings Park on Saturday.
The 25-year-old struggled to get over concussion-related symptoms while he was on the sidelines after a sickening collision with Ireland's Christiaan Stander in a Test match in Cape Town on June 11.
The playmaker could be a welcome addition to a struggling Springbok side that just suffered their fourth defeat of the year when they went down 13-41 to the All Blacks in Christchurch on Saturday.
"We need to speak to SARU [South African Rugby Union] and see what their plans are, so I am planning to speak to Allister [Coetzee] about that [Lambie's future]," Du Preez told reporters after the Sharks' victory over the Kings on Saturday.
Du Preez said the whole Sharks squad were just pleased to see Lambie back playing rugby after his lengthy lay-off.
"I am very happy for Pat – it was not ideal for him to come back in conditions [wet] like this but we are pleased he is back," he said.
Meanwhile, Du Preez said he was happy with the way his team bounced back against the Kings after two successive losses to Western Province and the Free State Cheetahs.
"Obviously, we are very pleased with the win and very pleased with the five points. I think the way we did it was very good.
"We stuck to what we said we wanted to do and it really worked," Du Preez added.
The Sharks will have a bye in Round Eight before travelling to Johannesburg to take on the Golden Lions.
A win in that game with a bonus point will probably be enough to give the Durbanites a home semifinal in this year's tournament.
"That is our last game [against the Lions], so it is going to be a massive game, but we have a bit of a break now so we are going to give the boys off and then we go back to the drawing board," said Du Preez.
