Lions back in blue

The Golden Lions will turn back the clock once more when they tackle the Free State Cheetahs in a Currie Cup crunch match on Saturday.

The Lions, when they take on the Cheetahs at Ellis Park in the last of their Currie Cup league matches, will once again don their navy blue 125-year anniversary jersey for the match.

The team wore the jersey in their opening match of the season, against the Blue Bulls.

This special anniversary jersey will also be available for purchase on Saturday.

The Golden Lions Rugby Union feels that it is important to acknowledge the rich history of the union, and also to maintain strong ties with all the previous Golden Lions players and members of administration.

Included in Saturday's festivities, there will be a raffle which supporters can enter to win a 125-year framed jersey which has been signed by the entire Golden Lions squad and management.

Additionally, the jerseys worn by the Lions during Saturday's match will all be signed and auctioned off in the upcoming weeks

. The proceeds made will go to different charities of the Golden Lions Rugby Union's choice.
