Marais relieved with victory

The Bulls ran in six tries to the Pumas' solitary effort to ensure they cemented their spot in the top three. They are now level on points with the second-placed Sharks on 20 and four behind the table-topping Cheetahs, who have yet to lose a game this season.

"I am very happy with the win especially after battling here in 2015. Five points away from home is good and it's important that we become more consistent now.

"We could have killed the game much earlier but our accuracy was not that good. We need to be better when we play better teams and make sure that we convert more attacks inside the opponents' 22 into points," Marais said.

The Bulls coach felt they were lucky in certain places, especially when things never went the way of the Pumas.

"I think they [the Pumas] played well. There were some opportunities that never went their way and then there were times when we were lucky to keep them out," he added.

The Pretoria-based side now face fourth-placed Griquas, who trail them by a solitary point.

"Griquas will be a tough challenge for us and has become a must-win game," he stated.
