North and South Rivalry Commences
Western Province will travel to the North to face a Blue Bulls team that is high on confidence after two convincing victories.
Western province limped to a 9-3 victory over a much improved Free-State Cheetahs team and should be weary of the Bulls.
WP coach John Dobson said: "They are playing more exciting rugby and they have a good pack of forwards" when he was asked about the form of the Bulls in an interview.
Dobson feels that the Bulls 57-19 drubbing in Bloemfontein was a freak result. He was also encouraged by last weekend's game against the Griquas.
"It was encouraging for us that Griquas gave them [Bulls] a good fight in the first 50 minutes," added Dobson.
However he is not taking anything for granted against this young Bulls outfit.
"They are playing more exciting rugby and they have a good pack of forwards," the WP mentor explained.
Western province have dominated recent clashes against their arch rivals at Loftus.
Nizaam Carr will captain the team in the absence of the incumbent Juan de Jongh. De Jongh suffered a Grade Two medial collateral ligament (MCL) tear which means he will probably be out for the rest of the season.
However, this will not be on the minds of the 33 times champions Western Province as Carr spoke about the teams recent success at Loftus.
"We have a lot of players that have won more than they lost there. It's a good stat, hopefully we can carry that form out," said Carr.
He believes that the key ingredient for winning at Loftus is that "your mind set has to be spot-on. Like stopping a maul, you must know exactly what you doing".
