Ntubeni's season is over ... again

Province coach John Dobson confirmed that Ntubeni had suffered a torn hamstring in the team's heartbreaking 20-21 loss to the Sharks at Newlands at the weekend.

Ntubeni, who had only recently returned from a torn Achilles tendon injury that sidelined him for most of 2016, suffered the injury early in the second half.

"Skara did his hamstring quite badly and I am not sure [if] he will play in this Currie Cup [competition] again," Dobson said.

"It's not so much the Currie Cup that concerns me‚ I feel for poor Skara. He has just got back [from the 2016 injury].

"He is such a good presence in the team and he is really physical. He is a really top hooker in South Africa‚ so this is desperate for him. He was in tears in the changeroom."

Dobson also bemoaned the fact that his team has crept into their shell after the impressive demolition of the Lions the week before.

"We have to take a good look at ourselves. I don't know the count, but we would have made over 200 tackles again‚" Dobson said.

"That's not the way we want to go."

Province have a bye this week and return to take on the Free State Cheetahs at Newlands on September 9.
