Province waiting on Carr
The loose forward is in doubt for his team's Currie Cup clash against the Sharks in Durban on Saturday, after picking up a hamstring strain in the win over Griquas at the weekend.
Carr limped off in the 33rd minute of his team's 33-15 win over Griquas this past Saturday and he has been given until Thursday's team announcement to prove his fitness.
"Nizaam is certainly looking a lot better than we initially thought on Saturday," coach John Dobson said.
In some good news, however, fellow loose forward Sikhumbuzo Notshe is available for selection after missing the bonus-point win over Griquas.
"Notshe would be a like for like replacement, were Nizaam to miss out," Dobson said.
"Nic Groom did well as captain when Nizaam went off on Saturday."
Loosehead prop Oliver Kebble (hamstring), like Notshe (AC Joint), is also back at training and available for selection.
Scrumhalf Jano Vermaak (finger) is also back at training after missing the past two weeks of action.
Utility forward Jurie van Vuuren came through the match against Griquas well – playing 57 minutes – having not played for three months.
Dobson said the Sharks pose a serious threat to his side, who bounced back against Griquas after back-to-back defeats.
"They've got a massive kicking game," he said of the Sharks.
"They don't play any rugby in their own half and they've got very good chase lines.
"We can't allow their backs any momentum, especially a guy like Lionel Cronjé, who we know well, as that will bring a guy like André Esterhuizen into the game strongly."
