Pumas get Morale boosting Win
The conditions were very wet and slippery but the Pumas seemed to adapt better as they struggled in the wet to secured the win.
"We are just very pleased and relieved," said coach Mentz.
"It was difficult conditions with a wet ball, which didn't suit the pattern that we wanted to play."
However, the Kings put up a valiant fight and Mentz said: "Credit must be given to the Kings for keeping us out. The fact that we could not get a bonus point was a direct result of their resolute defence."
Kings coach Brent Janse van Rensberg felt his team did not take the chances that were on offer.
"It's just not good enough – we weren't clinical enough," said van Rensberg.
"We lost vital line-out ball and our option-taking at the line-out put us under pressure.
"The Pumas were more clinical.
"We made a lot of unforced errors, we rushed our play and we weren't patient.
Mentz singled out a few players for having exceptional performances.
"Jason-Colin Fraser had an unbelievable match. Jerome Pretorius and Rosco Speckman also had very good games," added Mentz
