Pumas lose Groenewald

Whilst most of the injuries appear superficial, flank Lambert Groenewald will be out for two-three weeks with a calf muscle tear.

"Most of the injuries don't appear serious, but the scans will give us a better indication of whether there is anything else to take note of," said Pumas head coach MJ Mentz.

Medical clearance for Francois Brummer (back), Marnus Schoeman (elbow/tricep), Marlou van Niekerk and Stephan Greeff (both shoulder) should be given later this week.

While Justin van Staden and Reynier van Rooyen are fit and should be available this weekend.

In terms of long term injuries, Brian Shabangu is recovering from an intercostal muscle injury and will not be available for selection this weekend. Ruwellyn Isbel, Rassie van Vuuren, Simon Westraad, Johan Herbst and Lubabalo Mtyanda are still out of action.

Centre Hoffman Maritz will return to full training on Friday after recovering from surgery on a torn hamstring. Marne Coetzee, Reuben Johannes and Nardus van der Walt could all possible return to the team this week.

The Pumas will face the Golden Lions in the Currie Cup second round in Johannesburg on Saturday.
