Sharks building towards Super Rugby success?

The Sharks are currently sitting at the top of the Currie Cup standings after an impressive four wins from five and they look like a confident bunch under the tutelage of new head coach Robert du Preez.

Ndungane believes that if they can go all the way in this year's tournament, it will boost their chances of a successful 2017 Super Rugby campaign.

Sharks building towards Super Rugby success?"It is all about continuity and obviously having good momentum from one campaign to the other is massive for any group," Ndungane told reporters in Durban.

"Fortunately for us, we have not lost a lot of players this year to the Springboks. We had a good start and hopefully we can keep that going and go all the way to the Final, which will give us so much confidence.

"We had a disappointing Currie Cup in the past two seasons, where we only made the semifinals once. It would be massive if we have a good Currie Cup."

Ndungane said the team had learnt a lot from their mistakes in Super Rugby this year.

"It is the same bunch of guys from Super Rugby and the same management. I think continuity plays a big part. It is always nice to have the same systems in place; it gives a lot of confidence to everyone.

"We had a looked at what worked and what did not work in Super Rugby and we felt that we could have used the ball a bit more. We did not play what we saw in front of us and that was part of the mind shift," he added.

The 27-34 loss to Western Province was the Sharks' first of the campaign. They next face the Free State Cheetahs in Durban on Saturday in what will be a top of the table clash.

The Sharks are currently sitting at the top of the standings with 20 points, with the Cheetahs in second with one point.

The Cheetahs are still unbeaten in this year's tournament and have played one game less than their Round Six opponents.
