Sharks keeping their heads up

Despite losing at home to Western Province, the Sharks remain upbeat ahead of their home semifinal against the Cheetahs.

The Durban side went down 17-13 at a wet Kings Park on Saturday, which means that they face the prospect of travelling to Cape Town for the final if both coastal sides win at home next week.

Sharks coach Brad Macleod-Henderson was predictably disappointed, particularly as his side could have snuck a victory over the defending champions if their goal-kicking had been more accurate.

But he insisted their third loss of the season was not too big of a concern for his team.

“It's disappointing because we potentially had some chances there to get the win,” he said.

“We let it slip through our fingers. But we're not down in the dumps at all, there's still a lot to play for. We're looking forward to the semifinal and potentially playing Province again in the final.”

Macleod-Henderson was also confident they will be better prepared for next week's semifinal against the Free State Cheetahs in Durban.

“We'll spend some time on our set-piece,” he added.

“We made a few too many handling errors, obviously the weather didn’t help. If we get that right, I'm sure we'll be okay next week.”
