The Sharks have bolstered their lock stocks ahead of the this year's Currie by signing former Australian schoolboy star David McDuling from the Reds.
The Queensland Rugby Union released McDuling from the remainder of his 2015 contract, to allow him to join the Durban-based team ahead of their Currie Cup preparations.
The 26-year-old signed a one-year contract with the Sharks for the 2016 Super Rugby season, but requested an early release from the Reds to allow him to join the side ahead of South Africa's domestic competition.
McDuling made his Super Rugby debut in 2014 against the Crusaders and has since amassed a total of 12 Super Rugby caps for the Reds. He also won the inaugural season of the National Rugby Championship with Brisbane City and had the most carries and run metres of any second rower in the competition.
Sharks director of rugby Gary Gold said McDuling will add much needed depth in the lock position fo

McDuling said he is looking forward to the move to Durban and linking up with his new team.
"I'm excited to be joining The Sharks at this stage of my career. After speaking with Gary, I cannot wait to contribute to a successful Sharks team starting with the upcoming Currie Cup. The opportunity to live in a great city such as Durban and play for The Sharks was one I did not hesitate to take."
