Sharks want to win the Big games
They host 2014 champions Western Province in Durban this coming Saturday and will be hoping for great performances from their big players like Springbok scrumhalf Cobus Reinach.
Coach Gary Gold is wary of a Province team that has been blowing hot and cold this year.
"Province are going to ask big questions of us next week," said Gold.
After losing to the Pumas in Nelspruit in the opening round – the Sharks have only won against the Eastern Province Kings (twice) and last week's narrow win against the Pumas.
The Sharks are yet to record a win against any of the big unions, already losing once to the Golden Lions.
Sharks' assistant coach Sean Everitt believes that they can turn their season around against the bigger teams.
Everitt said: "We divided the season into two – with the potential banana skins of the Pumas and the Kings behind us, part one is now over and part two lies ahead.
"We now face the bigger unions, like Western Province, the Golden Lions and the Blue Bulls and that will bring a new challenge.
"We look forward to that because these bigger teams usually bring out the best in the Sharks.
"If we look at the positives in the first five weeks, it is clear that we have improved, particularly in defence. We have to hit our straps this weekend. A win will elevate us to third so there is plenty of motivation."
"I'm hoping that we produce our best performance of the season on Saturday," he added.
