Snyman out of Currie Cup Final

Snyman suffered concussion and a "minor fracture" of his eye socket in his team's 36-30 semifinal win over Western Province last weekend

He underwent a minor procedure on Monday and according to team doctor Herman Rossouw will recover faster than initially expected.

His absence will be a big blow for the Blue Bulls, as the 21-year-old has been in fine form for the Pretoria side this year.

The other big setback for the Bulls is full;back Ulrich Beyers, who dislocated his shoulder against WP and as a result will not be available for the Final either.

Meanwhile, Blue Bulls coach Nollis Marais said scrumhalf Piet van Zyl will be drafted straight back into the team if he is over his concussion he suffered while he was with the Springboks in Durban for the final Rugby Championship match against the All Blacks.

If Piet van Zyl does it return, it would mean there will be no place for Ivan van Zyl in the team.

Ivan van Zyl scored the winning try for the Bulls in the semifinal when he came off the bench.

"Piet van Zyl has been playing excellent rugby the whole season," said Marais.

"I will go with Piet van Zyl and Rudy Paige.

"Ivan [van Zyl] is part of plans for the future, but Piet has been good whole season. If he [Piet van Zyl comes through his whole concussion thing, then he will definitely be in the side.

The Cheetahs have their own injury concerns to contend with, but they are not as serious as the Bulls'.

Prop Retshegofaditswe Nché picked up a cartilage injury in his team's 55-17 semifinal win over the Golden Lions, but Cheetahs head coach Franco Smith was not too worried after the game.

"It is not serious and it can be sorted out in a week," said Smith.

Centre Nico Lee also picked up a niggle, but should be available for the Final.
