Swanepoel takes centre stage for Bulls
The Bulls host the Kings at Loftus Versfeld on Friday.
Swanepoel will replace Jan Serfontein, who received a call-up to join the Springboks at the World Cup.
His place on the Bulls' bench will be filled by William Small-Smith.
The starting XV shows one other change – Rudolph Snyman making his first staring appearance at lock ahead of Marvin Orie, who drops down to the bench.
There is one other change on the bench, where Corniel Els comes in for the injured hooker Jaco Visagie (ankle sprain).
* Meanwhile Bandise Maku will play in his 50th Currie Cup match for the Bulls.
The Springbok hooker made his Bulls debut in 2006 and after stints with the Golden Lions and Eastern Province, now reaches this Bulls milestone in his 73th career Currie Cup appearance.
"I am very happy for Bandise, as he is back where he made his name," Bulls coach Nollis Marais said.
"He became a Springbok here and achieved great success with us before he left. He is almost back to that type of form and I know he is very proud to play in his 50th for us at Loftus where it all started for him," Marais added.
