Table-topping Sharks boss still unhappy
The Sharks cruised to 45-15 win and outscored the Cheetahs by seven tries to two.
The coach’s sentiments are with good reason, giving the Free State Cheetahs fielded a very young side, with most senior players on duty for their Pro14 campaign.
The Sharks’ game plan was not flawless, however lucky for them the Free State Cheetahs' inexperienced showed and the hosts’ first-half tries blitz made sure they bag a bonus-point before the break.
"It was tougher than what we expected," Du Preez told reported after the match.
"The Cheetahs fielded a lot of Varsity Cup players and they really made us work hard for every single point.
"Nonetheless, I am very pleased. The boys put in a lot of hard work especially during the week leading up to the game.
"Overall, there are still a few things I’m not happy about like a number of turnovers we conceded and also not converting our opportunities in the oppositions’ 22," he explained.
The Sharks' next fixture is against the Pumas in Nelspruit.
They will be hoping to bag the win and cement themselves on top of the table standings.
Du Preez's troops head into the Pumas encounter with no injuries concerns and the side have the added bonus of having Springbok Curwin Bosch back in the team.
"The Cheetahs match was a great fitness test, in particular, heading to the Pumas.
"I know it is going to be a tough encounter but lucky for us there are no injuries.
"And we will have Bosch back which will inject something different to the team,"
