VIDEO: Kriel's Bok drive lifts Bulls

WATCH as Blue Bull coach Pote Human explains how they will help Jesse Kriel regain his place in the Springbok squad.

The Bok discard, Kriel, will make a long-awaited return to the Blue Bulls on Saturday – when the Pretoria-based team travels to Durban to face the Sharks in a Currie Cup Round Two fixture.

Kriel, who featured in three of the Boks’ four Tests in June, has been unused in the Rugby Championship. Along with Ross Cronje (scrumhalf) and Lwazi Mvovo (wing) he did not travel with the Boks to South America this week.

He last played for the Blue Bulls in the Currie Cup in 2014, having always been part of the Springbok set-up and not available to play for the Bulls in the Currie Cup.

Kriel has only played nine times for the Blue Bulls in Currie Cup and his 10th appearance is welcomed by coach Pote Human, who did not hesitate to include the utility back into the starting team.

“Jesse [Kriel] asked me last Monday already if it is possible that he could come back [to the Bulls],” Human said, adding the 24-year-old, 32-times capped Bok is determined to win his place back in the national team.

“He told me that if he can’t play [for the Bulls], he will understand – but he wants to train with us.

“I told him: ‘Jesse, if you are here you will play’.

“He brought an incredibly positive attitude and he lifted the entire team.

“He is hungry to play and prove that he is the best in South Africa.

“I do believe he is the best in South Africa.”

Human described Kriel as an “unbelievable person” and a “true Blue Bull”.

“I am very happy to have him back [in the Bulls team].”
