WP go into camp

Following their opening round 26-45 defeat to the Blue Bulls at Loftus Versfeld, coach John Dobson's charges will look to regroup and plan the remainder of their Currie Cup campaign which resumes with a clash against the Free State Cheetahs at Newlands on Friday, August 19.

Dobson told wprugby.com that after a disappointing result up in Pretoria, his team will have to come together quickly on camp if they are to contend for the title this season.

"We always knew that the turnaround after the Super Rugby quarterfinal was going to be tough for us.

“We viewed our campaign from the start in two parts, one was this game and then the rest of the campaign, so we have got to pick ourselves up and get going,” he said.

The Western Province coach added that with just seven more games before the semifinals, they simply cannot afford any more slip-ups.

"We desperately want to host a semifinal at Newlands, it is a single round competition so we know that we can't drop another game," he said.

The squad will depart for their camp in Hermanus on Tuesday and return on Friday.
