Plumtree calls up three youngsters to train with URC squad
NEWS: Three of the Sharks’ young stars in the Currie Cup have been called up to train with the team’s senior squad.
Vusi Moyo, Tiaan Fourie and Matt Romao will train with Sharks coach John Plumtree and the URC squad following their performances in the Currie Cup.
The beleaguered Sharks have lost all four of their Currie Cup matches thus far but remain set on using the competition to blood the young talent in the province.
The Sharks, however, sit with no wins and a points difference of -116. They have only scored four tries in their four outings while 22 tries have been scored against them.
This weekend they host Western Province at home and with both sides having not won a match yet, one of them will finally get a W in this competition.
On Wednesday the Shark’s Currie Cup coach JP Pietersen confirmed that Plumtree is keen to have a look at the three youngsters.
SA Under-20 flyhalf Vusi Moyo earned his first start for the men from Durban off the bench against the Bulls two weeks ago.
He starred for the Junior Boks with his place-kicking, astute distribution, and physicality. He amassed 63 points across the tournament and was the showpiece’s top points scorer.
Last weekend the Sharks went down 17-26 to Griquas in a match fraught with yellow cards, which included three to the Durbanites – to Nick Hatton, Romao and Jean Smith.
