MATCH REPORT: The Sharks recorded their second win in the 2026 Currie Cup season after they edged Boland 19-12 in a Round Four fixture in KwaMashu.

Wing Khuthi Rasivhaga scored two of the Sharks’ three tries in a scrappy encounter.

The team from Durban entered the game under pressure after two consecutive defeats. However, they are now within touching distance of a top-four spot.

The visitors showed their skills out wide with some well-worked moves from a set-piece resulting in Jayden Bantom sprinting in for the opening try.

Boland had the Sharks on the ropes with their attacking play. However, their hard work was undone when Rasivhaga intercepted a pass before racing away for five points. Tim Swiel put his side in front with the conversion.

Boland’s Lunathi Nxele was then sent to the bin for a high tackle in the 22nd minute.

The Sharks increased their lead in the 34th minute, and it all started from a bulldozing run from Tino Mavasere, who made some serious metres before Deon Slabbert crashed over for a try.

At half-time it was 14-5 to the Sharks.

Boland had another player sent to the bin in the 60th minute. This time Jame Tedder was pinged for a deliberate knock-on

The Sharks eventually scored their second try in the 69th minute with Rasivhaga completing his brace after sustained pressure.

It was the Sharks’ turn to have 14 players on the field after Kerron van Vuuren was yellow-carded in the 75th minute.

Boland took advantage with Dewald Maritz going over for a try moments later.

Swiel had an opportunity to put the game out of Boland’s reach in the 78th minute; however, he pushed his penalty goal attempt wide.

It didn’t matter as the home side secured the win in the end.

Man of the match: The award goes to Sharks forward Tino Mavasere, who was impressive with ball in hand. He dominated the collisions and gave his team some much-needed momentum.
