Stormers scrumhalf one of six Lions signings
TRANSFER NEWS: The Lions bolstered their squad after securing the services of six players, including a Stormers scrumhalf ahead of the upcoming Currie Cup and United Rugby Championship seasons.
The players are lock Hyron Andrews, flyhalf Boeta Chamberlain, wing Daniel Kasende, flanker Sikhumbuzo Notshe, lock JP du Preez and scrumhalf Asad Moos.
Moos signed a contract extension with the Stormers last year but failed to earn his first URC cap, with Cobus Reinach, Stefan Ungerer and Imad Khan the preferred No.9s for the Capetonians.
He also represented the Junior Springboks and was a standout player for the University of Cape Town (UCT) in the Varsity Cup.
Andrews and Du Preez will bolster the second-row stocks following Darrien Landsberg’s move to the Sharks, whilst former Bull Chamberlain will add depth to the Lions’ flyhalf stocks after utilising Chris Smith throughout the entire 2025/26 URC season.
Kasende returns to South Africa following a stint with the Ospreys in Wales, having represented the Cheetahs prior.
Former Shark and Stormer Notshe offers versatility across the back row, being able to slot into all three positions in the loose trio.
The Lions kick off their Currie Cup campaign against the Cheetahs on Sunday, July 19, in Bloemfontein.
