VIDEO: Flyhalf crisis looming for Western Province?
INJURY UPDATE: Western Province assistant coach Brok Harris confirmed that two of their playmakers are currently sidelined with injury.
Flyhalf Kyle Smith left the field injured in the 64th minute during Western Province’s 19-40 loss to the Lions at Ellis Park and was replaced by BlitzBok Tristan Leyds.
Harris confirmed that Smith is likely to miss their Round Three clash against Griquas in Kimberley.

“Kyle [Smith] will find out today [Tuesday] the severity of his shoulder injury.
“Hopefully it’s not too long [that he will be sidelined]. Otherwise, despite one or two niggles we don’t have any other major injuries.”
Harris also confirmed that the more experienced No.10 Jurie Matthee’s availability is dependent on a fitness test, having recently suffered a concussion.

“Jurie [Matthee] still needs to pass a fitness test. Hopefully, he can come through.
“That’s what we need at the moment before we can confirm if he can play.”
Should both playmakers be unavailable, the No.10 responsibility will fall on Leyds, who had a decent 16-minute cameo in Johannesburg.
With the Capetonians lacking any extra specialist flyhalves in their Currie Cup squad, responsibility might fall on scrumhalves Asad Moos and Ezekiel Ngobeni to deputise as replacement flyhalves if required.
