All-time Champions Cup record for Leinster prop

NEWS: With his appearance off the bench against Northampton Saints, Leinster prop Cian Healy surpassed Munster legend Ronan O’Gara to set the all-time Champions Cup appearance record.

Saturday’s Champions Cup semifinal was Healy’s 111th outing in the competition, all of which has been for Leinster.

The 36-year-old’s first appearance dates back to December 15, 2007, when the Champions Cup 2024 finalists lost 10-29 to Edinburgh at Murrayfield.

Since then, Healy has played a part in all four of Leinster’s Champions Cup title wins, and he will hope to add a fifth to his resume later this month.

In honour of his achievement, Healy was presented with a special reward by EPCR Chief Executive Dominic McKay and Irish Taoiseach Simon Harris.

“He’s a remarkable character,” Leinster Head Coach Leo Cullen said ahead of Healy’s record-breaking appearance, “I was lucky enough to play a lot of games with Cian.

“He’s had some very serious injuries, I think it’s important to note, but how he’s managed himself back throughout that process, it’s a remarkable achievement.

“He was a pleasure to play with, and he’s certainly a pleasure to coach as well.”
