Bok livewire is going nowhere
NEWS: Another Springbok has confirmed his playing future.
The Lions have made it a trio of Bok contract extensions this week, with scrumhalf Morne van den Berg the latest one to sign on the dotted line.
Following in the footsteps of Ruan Venter and Quan Horn, Van den Berg has signed until June 2028.
Van den Berg has become a vital cog in the Lions’ attacking plans over the last few seasons, and his form has resulted in a Bok debut against Portugal in 2024.
He now has six Test caps to his name, with two of them (against Italy and Wales) coming on the recent end-of-year tour.
He has never tasted defeat in a Bok jersey.
The Lions are in England preparing for their Challenge Cup Round Two clash against Newcastle on Saturday.
Van den Berg is one of several key players staying in South Africa to prepare for next weekend’s United Rugby Championship derby against the Stormers.
