Bulls lose Baby Bok star to injury

By Jan de Koning
Thursday 11 Dec 2025

NEWS: The Bulls, still reeling from last week’s home loss to Bordeaux Bègles, have replaced two of their frontline players.

European Professional Club Rugby on Thursday confirmed the additional players for Round Two of the Champions Cup and Challenge Cup tournaments.

The Bulls are in England, where they will face off against the powerful Premiership outfit Northampton Saints at Franklin’s Gardens on Sunday.

The biggest loss for the Pretoria-based franchise is Cheswill Jooste.

One of the stars of South Africa’s stars at the victorious World Rugby Under-20 Championship earlier this year, Jooste has injured his shoulder.

There is no indication of how long the 19-year-old flyer will be sidelined for.

He is replaced by seasoned wing Sergeal Petersen, who has more than 250 first-class games to his credit.

Prop Francois Klopper has also been ruled out with an ‘infected’ toenail.

Jean Erasmus comes into the squad as front row cover.

The Lions have also ‘deregistered’ three players – Layton Horn, Janco Uys and Heiko Pohlmann.

Marco Ferreira replaces Horn, Siba Mahashe comes in for Uys and Siya Dube steps in for Pohlmann.

The players replaced in the squads have been deregistered.
