Bulls to rely on Boks for Euro journey
SQUAD ANNOUNCEMENT: The Bulls coach Johan Ackermann is going all in for this weekend’s Champions Cup round of 16 fixture away to Glasgow Warriors.
The match takes place on Saturday. His 33-man touring squad includes 14 Springboks, blended with a range of experienced players and emerging talents like Cheswill Jooste and Reinhardt Ludwig.
“If we’re in the play-offs in the Champions Cup, we must give it a go. We will give it our best shot, and then we’ll take it from there,” said Ackermann.
“Glasgow are in front of us this week, but we’ll need to be better than we were against Munster if we hope to win.”
Akker van der Merwe, Nizaam Carr and Wilco Louw are unavailable for the tour.
Van der Merwe and Carr are both out due to injury, while Louw is unavailable due to personal reasons.
The trip to Scotland precedes two United Rugby Championship fixtures, both away, against the Dragons (April 17) and the Scarlets (April 25).
The squad departs for the UK on Monday evening.
