Cheetahs v Ulster: Match postponed at last minute
BREAKING NEWS: The Round Three Challenge Cup encounter between the Cheetahs and Ulster has been postponed until further notice and will not take place on Sunday afternoon as previously announced.
Following a pitch inspection by the match-day referee, Kevin Bralley, his decision was that the pitch is unplayable.
His recommendation to EPCR, the Cheetahs, and Ulster is that the pitch at Dukes is not safe for the fixture.
The match is thus postponed until further notice.
The EPCR will convene its Board Crisis Management Group to consider next steps.
This comes after it was announced on Friday that the fixture had to be moved from the Cheetah’s base at the NRCA Stadium in Amsterdam to ‘S-Hertogenbosch due to “adverse weather conditions”.
A brutal cold snap has gripped Europe, and it appears Amsterdam is feeling the effects as well.
For their home games, the Cheetahs are based at the NRCA Stadium in the city. However, the “Municipality of Amsterdam has declared all municipal sports pitches unplayable until further notice”.
