Flyhalf boost for Racing ahead of Stormers clash

INJURY UPDATE: Former England captain Owen Farrell will make his comeback from injury for Racing 92 to face the Stormers in Paris this weekend, coach Stuart Lancaster said Thursday.

“He trained well today. He’s confident of being able to start the game,” Lancaster said of the flyhalf.

“He’ll maybe not play the full 80 minutes because obviously he’s coming back from a long injury.”

Farrell, who won 112 caps for England and played his last game for them in the third-place play-off at the 2023 World Cup, has yet to put his stamp on his time in the French capital.

He played eight of the opening nine games in the Top 14 before undergoing a groin operation in mid-November.

Racing sit bottom of their Champions Cup Pool 4 on four points after two losses in their three games to date.

They need a win against the Stormers on Saturday and the results of the two other pool matches to go their way to keep up hopes of reaching the quarterfinals.

The side welcomes back not only Farrell, but also scrumhalf Nolann Le Garrec, Wales lock Will Rowlands, flanker Cameron Woki and prop Hassane Kolingar.
