Carter kicked 12 points himself to maintain the Top 14 leaders' unbeaten start to the competition. They are now in command of Pool Three with 17 points and a win against the Scarlets or Northampton in their final two matches would seal their place in the last eight.

"I'm loving it here, I'm really enjoying it, it's been a lot of fun so far," Carter told EPC Rugby. "Having success on the pitch always makes life easier. We have a lot of self-belief in the squad, we left it until the last minute but it was really reassuring to get that bonus-point and that might have secured us a quarterfinal spot, which is the goal for us.

"I'm loving the challenge here it's completely different to what I have experienced in New Zealand with the All Blacks and Crusaders. To be here amongst a bunch of new guys, I'm really enjoying the integration. We have some top lads in there."

Man-of-the-match Chris Masoe has already lifted the Champions Cup with Toulon and he hailed the importance of their late, late bonus-point score.

"We're very pleased to get the five points at the end, we're happy to get the win but it's pretty special to get the bonus-point at the end. It's good to have someone to direct us around the pitch. The 10 minutes in the second half allowed us to win the game," Masoe added.
