Cockerill: Tigers must bounce back

Their 0-33 loss to Ulster at the old Ravenhill in Belfast at the weekend against was a defeat that only a 34-point deficit at the same venue (41-7) in 2012 had overtaken.

Cockerill: Tigers must bounce backBut this latest disaster – a 0-38 loss to an on-fire Munster – on Irish soil exceeded that and also meant they lost their unbeaten run at Thomond Park.

In typical fashion, Tiger Director of Rugby Richard Cockerill did not shy away from the impact.

"Credit to Munster – they played very well and we were beaten in every department," he said.

"That performance was well below par. We have not played at that intensity in the Premiership in recent weeks.

"Munster did not let us have a moment's breath and they were all over us from start to finish.

"If we play like that we wont qualify from any pool. We will never concede qualification and we have an opportunity next week to restore some pride.

"We have to lick our wounds and get things right for next week – that was nowhere near where we need to be and we have to be a lot better."

As well as conceding four tries, Leicester also lost England outside half Freddie Burns with a jaw injury. They also have problems in the front row.

But one of the biggest issues Cockerill will have to address before the return is the indiscipline of his side. They lost Ed Slater, Manu Tuilagi and George Worth to yellow cards and allowed Tyler Bleyendaal to kick Munster into a 12-point leaf with a stream of early penalties.

Munster now lead Pool One by a point from Glasgow Warriors, with a game in hand, while Leicester have four points in third place.
