Halliday reappointed EPCR independent chairman
NEWS: Former England international Simon Halliday has been re-appointed independent chairman of European Professional Club Rugby (EPCR) until the end of the 2020-2021 season, the organisation announced Wednesday.
Halliday, who played 23 times for England as a back between 1986 and 1992, took up his position in 2015, a year after the EPCR took over Europe’s club competitions when English and French clubs, seeking a greater share of revenue, threatened to withdraw.
“I am very proud to be continuing as independent Chairman for another three years as we continue to grow the tournaments and to drive increasing revenue for the participant clubs via their leagues and unions,” said Halliday
“We have made impressive strides in many areas including the development of a destination Finals weekend concept which proved an outstanding success in Bilbao last season.
I look forward to playing my part as EPCR continues to go from strength to strength.”
