Kurtley Beale settles in at Wasps

The 27-year-old has become one of the highest-paid players in England when he signed the two-year deal with the Coventry-based club.

Commenting on his move from Super Rugby to the Premiership, Beale said: "Wasps have a lot of history and the last couple of years they have had a lot of great players coming through. To get an opportunity to play at the Wasps who have a great fanbase and tradition there was really no other choice.

"To experience another culture and experience another brand of rugby that they play I felt that is was really fitting for me.

"I spoke to [retired] Benny Jacobs and he spoke really highly of the Wasps which made help me made my decision in the end,"

While playing for the Waratahs, Beale suffered a season-ending knee injury during a Super Rugby match against the Bulls. The injury came just the day after he signed a multi-million-dollar two-year deal to join Wasps and has left the star out of action since May 2016.

"I'm ready to work hard and rip into my rehab, trying to get back as soon as possible for Wasps. The first three months of rehab was quite tough, but the surgeon said it looks good to continue with rehab.

"I've met the medical staff at Wasps and we have to figure out a plan. At the moment there is no date set as to when I can return. For now, I'm am focus on rehab and do not want to miss any gaps.

"There is obviously a lot of hard work ahead. The injury was pretty major, I've never really suffered something like that before," he added.

Despite moving to the Northern Hemisphere, Beale is still eligible to play for the Wallabies giving the fact that he has more than 60 caps for the international side.
