Madigan confident of beating champs

Leading points scorer Ian Madigan is confident Leinster can stop Toulon's charge for a third-straight European Champions Cup.

The Ireland back has kicked 98 points to lead the way in the Champions Cup scoring charts, after he delivered a faultless display from the tee against Bath in the quarterfinals.

Madigan already has two Champions Cup titles under his belt, and he is certain his side will derail the continental kings.

"I think we have enough time to improve," he said.

"I have full belief that the team will be ready, and that we'll beat Toulon.

"We're in a really good place, we beat a very good Bath side, who played well on the day without playing to our full potential

"That's something I take a huge amount of confidence from."

The Irish side would have hoped to take some winning momentum into the clash, but a shock loss against Pro12 rivals Newport Gwent Dragons this past weekend, has dented that aspiration.

The versatile back moved pulled the strings from inside centre in the Aviva Stadium clash against Bath in the quarterfinals, and could do the same when Leinster travel to Marseille on Sunday.

State is the venue for the titanic European battle that will no doubt have players and fans' nerves jangling.

But there will be one man with ice coursing through his veins when he attempts to boot his province into a potential Champions Cup Final against either ASM Clermont Auvergne or Saracens.

Madigan said: "When you're playing in a knock-out game you know every point counts.

"So you stick to the process whether you're behind in a game or you're taking a kick at the start of the match or the end of a match.

"It's still the same pressure on you. For me, it's about going through the process regardless.

"You want to get any kick as badly as one that could win you a game to put you through to the semifinal of Europe.

"So, for me, it's about sticking to that process."
