Smith firmly focussed on Treviso
Richard Cockerill's side stormed to a 33-20 triumph over the Top 14 title holders to get their Champions Cup campaign off to a flyer. Smith dotted down to put the Tigers in-front just before half-time after Vereniki Goneva had opened the scoring.
Leicester are undefeated in their five previous European meetings with the Italian side. But they were given a scare back in 2012. Treviso looked set to derail Leicester's hopes of qualifying for the last eight, leading the two-time European champions until the last five minutes. But a late penalty try rescued the Tigers and put them on-course for the quarterfinals, where they were eventually beaten by eventual champions RC Toulon.
And Smith is hoping they can build on their dream start and put themselves in a strong position after two rounds of Champions Cup action.
Smith said: "It's the Champions Cup and we knew we would have to lift our game. We have targeted nine points from these first two games so we know we have go to Treviso and go again or this game will count for nothing.
"We have played Treviso a lot in Europe. A few years ago it took Alesana Tuilagi to score in the final minute to get a victory over there.
"They are a passionate bunch so it will be tough. We have a few Italians in our squad and they will be looking forward to going over there."
The Tigers will be boosted by the news of Matt Toomua signing up for the 2016-17 season. The 25-year-old was part of the Australia squad that reached the World Cup Final and joins from Super Rugby side Brumbies, where he has played 75 games.
