Fifteen points from the boot of replacement flyhalf Sam Davies, plus six from Dan Biggar, helped the Welsh side move to the top of Pool Two.

Depriving Clermont of a losing bonus-point means if they can win at Exeter in the final round of fixtures, the Ospreys will guarantee themselves a place in the last eight.

A try from Wesley Fofana and eight points from the boot of Morgan Parra had given the visitors a 13-6 lead, but they were stunned by the ferocity of the Ospreys comeback.

"I am extremely proud of the players," said head coach Tandy.

"They battled throughout the game, and to come back from 13-6 down against a really experienced Clermont team who have got to several finals in European rugby, was a real team effort.

"We probably haven't got as many glittering individuals as other European teams have got, but what we have got is a massive team ethic and a massive spirit in the group.

"There are not too many days that I have been prouder of this group, if I am honest.

"It has got to be up there with one of our best Ospreys performances.

"It was a huge effort, and the players deserve a massive pat on the back as a group for their performance."
