Vunipola cleared for Euro semi

The charge of floul play against Billy Vunipola was dismissed by an RFU disciplinary panel and he is available for the European clash against Toulon.

The England No.8 was cited for allegedly head-butting Leicester's Matthew Tait during his sides 22-6 victory over the Tigers in a Premiership clash last weekend.

The citing was for striking a player contrary to Law 10.4 (a), or, in the alternative, charging into a ruck, contrary to Law 10.4 (h).

However, an RFU statement said: "The panel of Philip Evans [chairman], Bonike Erinle and Martyn Wood dismissed the citing for striking Mathew Tait with his head."

The news will come as a relief to both Vunipola and his club as they prepare to face Clermont Auvergne at the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard in St Etienne on Saturday.

On the flipside, a similar incident involving Leicester wing Vereniki Goneva striking Saracens' flank Kelly Brown, resulted in the Tigers flyer being suspended for one week.

Goneva will miss the Tigers' home game against London Welsh on April 25 as a result.
