Warriors forwards get the credit
The Scotland flyhalf pulled the strings as Glasgow moved to the top of Pool One with a 23-7 triumph at Scotstoun.
It looks as if they will now fight-it-out with Munster for the top spot, ahead of their Welford Road clash with Leicester Tigers.
Josh Strauss kicked off the scoring with a try on his 100th appearance before Fraser Brown and Ali Price crashed over to seal the Warriors' third win from four Champions Cup matches.
The Glasgow pack stood up to Racing's giant forward eight to lay the foundations for a second successive victory.
And Russell paid tribute to his men after they strengthened their last eight push.
"After beating them last weekend away from home, we knew how tough of a challenge it would be," Russel said.
"To beat them here is amazing for the club and these two wins really help us in Europe, we're really happy after that.
"Our attack in both games has been amazing, and I credit the forwards for that.
"They have given us such good ball and we've had plenty of space to show how dangerous we are last week and in this match.
"It's a great team performance and it's brilliant to win back-to-back against last season's finalists.
"They've got a big pack but our boys dug so deep today, we dominated the game physically, and if I don't give them credit, because if I don't I will probably get beaten up later!
"My day is made easier by the forwards, I switched off a bit at the end so there is still plenty to work on. But I couldn't do it without the players around me, it was a team performance."
