Wasps' Bok cited

Springbok Ashley Johnson has been cited for a dangerous tackle on Dave Kearney in the opening minutes of their game against Leinster.

 

Johnson is alleged to have committed a dangerous tackle on the Leinster wing, Kearney, in the opening minute of the Pool Two game at the Ricoh Arena in contravention of Law 10.4(i).

 

Johnson was shown a yellow card by match referee, Jerome Garces, following the incident.

 

The complaint was made by the match Citing Commissioner, Alberto Recaldini.

 

Simon Thomas has been appointed as the independent judicial officer for the hearing which will take place in Dublin on Thursday.

 

Law 10.4(i) Tackling the jumper in the air. A player must not tackle an opponent jumping for the ball in open play.

 

Under World Rugby's Sanctions for Foul Play, Law 10.4(i) Tackling the jumper in the air carries the following sanction entry points – Low End: 3 weeks; Mid-Range: 6 weeks; Top End: 12+ to 52 weeks.
