Toulouse prop handed three-week ban
NEWS: Toulouse prop Dorian Aldegheri has received a three-week suspension following a red-card incident during his side’s Investec Champions Cup quarter-final loss to Bordeaux-Bègles.
The 32-year-old was dismissed for 20 minutes during Sunday’s encounter after a late tackle on Bordeaux center Damian Penaud.
European Professional Club Rugby (EPCR) confirmed the sanction on Wednesday, which currently sidelines Aldegheri until May 11.
Aldegheri accepted that he had committed an act of foul play that warranted a red card.
However, the governing body noted that the prop could return as early as April 27 should he choose to participate in World Rugby’s “tackle school” coaching intervention program.
The ban is a significant blow for Toulouse, who must now navigate a vital period of the Top 14 season without the experienced international as they look to bounce back from their European exit.
