Grewcock faces lengthy ban

Bath lock Danny Grewcock is once again in trouble with the disciplinary, this time for puching in the European Challenge Cup final.

Grewcock has been cited for punching Clermont lock Thibault Privat during the second half of the final at Harlequins’ Stoop ground on Saturday.

The blow left Privat with a broken nose.

A date for the hearing has not yet been set.

The citing lodged by the Citing Commissioner for the match, Achille Reali (Italy), is for allegedly punching / striking the ASM Clermont Auvergne No 5 Thibault Privat in contravention of Law 10.4 (a) – Punching or striking: A player must not strike an opponent with the fist or arm, including the elbow, shoulder, head or knee(s).

Grewcock is likely to face a long ban – anything up to eight or even twelve weeks – considering his poor disciplinary record.
