England star Pollock shuts down transfer rumours
NEWS: Henry Pollock will remain at his boyhood club after signing a contract extension that sees him stay at Northampton Saints beyond this season.
The back rower has already amassed a career’s worth of accolades at the age of just 21 – boasting 49 Saints appearances, 13 England caps, five British & Irish Lions caps and, most recently, a Gallagher PREM winners’ medal.
Pollock’s performances have also seen him become one of the most recognisable young faces in British sport. His growing appeal saw him become the first rugby player to join Matchroom Talent Agency earlier this year, reflecting his growing profile both within and beyond the game.
Saints supporters first caught a glimpse of Pollock’s talent when he became Saint #2066 as a 17-year-old schoolboy in 2022. Four years on, following a remarkable rise, Pollock has committed his future to the Club that helped shape his career.
“I’m massively happy to re-sign with Saints, my boyhood club,” said Pollock.
“It’s an exciting place to be right now. We’re in a great spot as a team, but it feels like there’s still so much more growth in us.
“I’m still young, and we’ve got a young squad with a brilliant group of lads. Some of my best mates are here, and every day everyone pushes each other to improve and be the best players and team we can be. For where I am in my career, this is exactly where I want to be.
“I feel like we’re only just getting started. We won the PREM last season and we want to go again. Winning the Champions Cup is another huge ambition for us. We came so close a couple of years ago, and achieving that together would be incredibly special.
“I just want to enjoy every moment of this journey. I’m playing for my boyhood club, surrounded by great people, and that’s something I never take for granted. The connections within this group are what make it such a special place.
“Dows [Phil Dowson] and [Sam] Vesty have been brilliant for me. They demand high standards and push us hard, but they’ve created a great environment where everyone wants to improve and succeed together. I’m excited to keep working with them and to see where this team can go over the next few years.
“I also want to thank my mum, dad and the rest of my family for everything they’ve done for me. They’ve made so many sacrifices along the way, and I wouldn’t be where I am today without their support.”
A former Stowe School pupil, Pollock made his senior Saints debut before signing his first professional contract, featuring against London Irish in the PREM Rugby Cup in 2022.
Two further appearances, and the first tries of his senior career, followed that season before Pollock joined Saints full-time ahead of the Club’s title-winning 2023/24 campaign. It was during that season that he made his Gallagher PREM debut against Leicester Tigers.
Pollock then helped England Under-20s to glory at the 2024 World Rugby U20 Championship, before embarking on a whirlwind 12 months that began with a breakthrough campaign in Black, Green and Gold.
The back rower scored ten tries in 22 appearances during the 2024/25 season and swept the Club’s end-of-season awards, claiming Breakthrough Player, Young Player and Try of the Season honours – the latter coming courtesy of his memorable chip-and-chase score against Sale Sharks, which was his first try in the Gallagher PREM. He was also named the PREM’s Breakthrough Player of the Season at The Rugby Awards in June 2025.
His impact extended onto the European stage, where seven tries in as many Investec Champions Cup matches helped Saints reach the final against Union Bordeaux Bègles and earned Pollock a nomination for the competition’s Player of the Tournament award.
That form quickly caught the attention of England Head Coach Steve Borthwick, who selected Pollock for the England A fixture against Australia in November 2024. A senior international debut followed in the final round of the 2025 Guinness Six Nations, with Pollock marking the occasion by scoring twice in England’s 68-14 victory over Wales in Cardiff.
Despite having played little more than 30 minutes of Test rugby at the time, Pollock’s performances convinced Andy Farrell to include him in the British & Irish Lions squad for their 2025 tour of Australia. The youngest player selected, he went on to make five appearances in the famous red jersey alongside fellow Saints Tommy Freeman, Alex Mitchell and Fin Smith.
Pollock continued his upward trajectory during the 2025/26 campaign, scoring ten tries in 20 appearances for Saints while taking his England tally to 13 caps. His outstanding domestic form culminated in a Player of the Match performance in the Gallagher PREM Final, helping Saints defeat Exeter Chiefs at Twickenham to secure the title.

“Over the last few years, everyone has seen the quality he brings on the pitch and the speed of his rise through the game – but just as importantly, he’s a young man of outstanding character. Keeping someone with both his talent and mindset is hugely important for the Club.
“What’s most exciting is that there’s still so much more to come from him. Henry is incredibly ambitious and constantly looking for ways to improve. He understands that individual success comes from contributing to a successful team, and he’s already taken on leadership responsibilities within the squad despite his age.
“Physically, he’s an exceptional athlete. He’s explosive, powerful and highly skilful, with the ability to influence a game in a number of different ways. But there are still areas of his game he can develop, and one of Henry’s greatest strengths is how quickly he learns and adapts.
“People sometimes underestimate how intelligent he is as a rugby player. When we sit down to review performances, he’s often identified the same things we were going to discuss before we’ve even raised them. His understanding of the game is excellent, and that gives him a huge platform to keep progressing.
“He’s become an important figure not just for Saints, but for the wider game. He inspires young supporters, brings excitement to rugby, and understands that everything off the pitch is built on performing consistently on it. We’re excited to see what he can achieve over the coming years.”
