Arscott gets chance of redemption

The 29-year-old – who was issued with a written warning by the Rugby Football Union over the incident, although they conceded it fell at the lower end of the scale of seriousness – has joined Carnegie until the end of the season, the club said in a statement.

"He [Arscott] joined up with his new teammates this week and is set to feature this Friday in the clash with Jersey Reds over in the Channel Islands," continued the statement.

Arscott was sacked by Sale last month after allegedly leaking team plans to brother Luke, a Bristol player, when they met on New Year's Eve – the day before Sale lost 23-24 at home to Bristol.

Neither Arscott brother played in the match.

Arscott, a former England Under-21 player, who also played for the England Saxons team (England's second XV), said he was delighted to resume playing with the promotion chasing club, who trail Championship leaders London Irish by 11 points.

"I am really pleased to have joined up with Yorkshire Carnegie and I am looking forward to getting started against Jersey on Friday," said Arscott, who numbers Bristol and London Welsh amongst his former clubs.

"It has been a tough few weeks but I am looking forward to letting my rugby do the talking for the remainder of the season.

"I have been made to feel really welcome by the Yorkshire lads and it has certainly helped that I knew quite a few of them from previous clubs."
