Brookes, Green get suspensions

Charges against Brookes for charging into a ruck, contrary to Law 10.4(h) and Green for striking with his arm, contrary to Law 10.4(a) were heard in Leeds.

Brookes pleaded guilty and was given a two-week suspension. He is free to play again on Tuesday, December 13. Green also pleaded guilty but was given a one-week suspension. He is free to play again on Tuesday, December 6.    

"Both of these cases were considered low-end entry points by the panel. However Kieran Brookes does not have a clean disciplinary record and so the panel did not feel able to reduce the sanction to one week as they could in the case of Calum Green," said the RFU Disciplinary panel.

Brookes was sent off by referee Andrew Jackson in the weekend's Premiership match between Northampton and Newcastle for charging into a ruck and making contact with the head of Scott Lawson of Newcastle. 

In the same match, Green struck Brookes of Northampton with his forearm and was subsequently cited by the citing commissioner.

The RFU Disciplinary panel comprised of Mike Hamlin (Chairman), Barry O'Driscoll and Guy Lovgreen.

Meanwhile, the charge against Jack Condy of Scarlets for punching or striking, contrary to Law 10.4(a) was heard in Bristol.

The player pleaded guilty and was given a one-week suspension which was backdated to Tuesday, November 22. Therefore he is now free to play again with immediate effect.

The back-row forward was sent off by referee Mike Adamson in the Anglo Welsh Cup match between Scarlets and Dragons for punching or striking an opponent from Dragons. The incident occurred in the second half of the match.
