Hawkins retires again

The 33-year-old joined Bristol Rugby in September 2016, making fourteen appearances in the blue and white hoops, scoring twice.

Hawkins represented Bath, Leicester and Newcastle Falcons in a 14-year career at the top of the domestic game.

"I thought my time in professional rugby had ended last year when I originally retired, but I was delighted to be have been able to contribute to Bristol Rugby this season,” Hawkins told bristolrugby.co.uk.

"It’s a great club with a close-knit environment and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time here. I have been fortunate enough to represent some fantastic clubs during my career and I am grateful to the sport for the opportunities it has afforded me,"

Head Coach Mark Tainton added: "Rob has been an excellent professional at Bristol Rugby and is respected by players and the coaching team alike.

"We thank him for his contribution to Bristol Rugby and, on behalf of the Club, congratulate Rob on a fine career and wish him the best of luck for the next chapter,"

Hawkins remains committed to Bristol Rugby for the remainder of the 2016/17 campaign.
